FAQ

Straight answers to common questions.

Everything homeowners usually ask us about quotes, scheduling, curing and keeping new concrete looking good. Don't see yours? Just ask.

Quotes & pricing

  • The fastest way is our Quick Quote: a short online form where you choose your project, give a rough size, pick finish ideas and add a few photos from your phone. We review it, follow up to schedule a site visit, and then send a written, itemized quote.

  • Because honest concrete pricing depends on things a website can't see: tear-out, access, grade, base conditions, thickness and finish. Any per-square-foot number without those is a guess. Our written quote spells out every line so you can compare it fairly.

  • Yes. Looking at your site is how we give you an accurate quote, and there's no obligation to move forward.

  • Scope and dimensions, demolition and haul-off if needed, base preparation, slab thickness, reinforcement, finish, joint layout, cleanup and price — plus anything that's specifically not included, so there are no surprises.

The work

  • We started in excavation and site development, so we treat the ground under your slab as seriously as the slab itself. Most concrete problems — sinking, heaving, cracking across the middle — trace back to poor base prep. We spec it, build it and put it in writing.

  • Concrete shrinks as it cures, so hairline cracking is normal. Good construction controls where it happens: properly spaced control joints, a compacted base and the right mix keep cracks in the joints instead of across your slab.

  • Concrete can be placed in cold weather with the right precautions, but it adds cost and risk. We'll tell you honestly whether your project should go now or wait for better conditions — especially in the Heber Valley and Park City.

  • Yes. Tear-out and haul-off of old concrete or asphalt is part of most replacement projects and is itemized in your quote.

  • Yes. Homeowners are our focus, but we also take on builder flatwork, footings, garage and shop slabs, and commercial concrete. Use the Quick Quote or email us with your plans.

Scheduling & communication

  • You'll get a scheduled start date once your quote is approved, and a heads-up before the crew arrives with a short checklist — where to park, what to move and which sprinklers to flag.

  • Yes. Communication is one of the main reasons we started Polaris. You'll get progress updates and photos as the job moves, and you'll always know who to contact.

  • Not usually. We'll want to walk the site with you before we start and again at the end. In between, we'll keep you updated — which is especially handy for rental owners.

  • We're based in Orem and work across Utah County (Orem, Lindon, Provo, Pleasant Grove, American Fork, Lehi), the Wasatch Back (Heber City, Midway, Park City) and the Salt Lake Valley. If you're nearby but not listed, ask anyway.

After the pour

  • Foot traffic is usually fine after about a day; vehicles need longer, and heavy vehicles longer still. Curing depends on temperature and the mix, so we'll give you specific dates for your pour at the walkthrough.

  • Decorative concrete — stamped and colored — should be sealed and periodically resealed. For broom-finished concrete, a quality penetrating sealer adds deicer and moisture protection. We'll recommend what makes sense for your project.

  • Skip deicing salts entirely during your concrete's first winter, and avoid products with ammonium nitrate or ammonium sulfate at any age. We'll give you specific product guidance in your care plan.
